New Laptop
I finally took the plunge and purchased a new laptop. I have one computer nightmare after another this summer, and I finally decided to go mobile. Having a laptop is turning out to be more convenient than I ever thought. In fact, I can pretty much blog anywhere I can find a McDonald's or Starbucks.. I am trying to figure out Vista, and Microsoft Office 2007, but I figure its better to learn sooner than later.

I think I need to follow your lead and purchase a laptop. Maybe I could get things done while sitting at the hospital with the new twins.

Do you think Office 2007 is as confusing as I do???
Hey I am considering a new one as mine now is really trying me. It is 7 years old, and ready to hit the dirt. so..I am trying to make it last until next summer,and I don't know if it will. have fun with it!
Laptops are awesome when you're on the go, especially with online classes. I bought mine last summer just to be able to have access on trips, etc. Since the "death" of my desktop this year, I used my laptop for everything. Hang in there with Office 2007. It can be tricky, but it has some great features as well.
I purchased a new laptop as well this summer. It is very nice to be mobile and work in various places....I have found that the front porch swing is peaceful with a houseful of teenagers running around.
I had a horrible time adjusting to Vista and Word 2007. It gets better as you use it daily. I had a few crazy mishaps because I couldn't find saved documents to upload to WebCt....but now I know where to look.....lol
Hmmm. I'm wondering what the life span of the average computer is supposed to be. (I know I could google it but I need a subject for blog comment). So, wondering if I should ditch my slooooooooow 8 year old computer, upgrade it, or get a new laptop.
Oooh, I am jealous. I love new gadgets, especially new laptops! I think we are to get new ones because we do a lot with Academic Outreach (online classes), but I am not sure when or what kind. The one that I currently have (actually the one that belongs to UCA) is rather old, but it still works. I gave my laptop to my daughter when I completed my doctoral work. Congrats and I hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

I just got my laptop less than a year ago. I don't know what I would do without it. I could not have taken as many online classes. It is great.
Congratulations on your new laptop!! I have had my laptop for a while now and use it non-stop. In fact it is time for me to get an up-dated one because this one keeps running out of memory space!! I know that I can get an external hard-drive which is what I am going to do but I would love to get a newer, slimer model with built-in wireless access!
Are you a MAC or PC person? I just got a MacBook and I love it! It makes everything so much easier and I don't have to fight my kids about being on the home computer.
i just got one also. Very convenient. My other computer is sooo slow.
